Appreciate the beauty that is life.

I started this blog at the young age of 15. Now that I am 18, I realise that there were so many things that never crossed my mind back then. Of course, I don't think they were meant to cross my mind, for I was far too young to be thinking about life nor it's importance. I am 18 now, and yes, I know that I am making myself sound like I am 40. However, 18 is that delicate age when you are on the precipice of discovering life's secrets. It's the age when all your tastes become cemented. The age when you realise why you are here and what it all means.

I have a strong relationship with my family members. I have a great personal life and educational life. I am stable, I am serious, and I am ready to take on the world.

The beauty of feeling like this is that you begin to appreciate life.

When I was younger, I considered as well as attempted to take my own life. It was so meaningless back then. I would have disappeared from this beautiful world and it didn't seem like such a big deal to me. I was mistaken. I am not saying this merely because I am in a good place in my life. I am saying this because being in a good place in my life has caused me to realise what life really has to offer. I am scared that had I succeeded in taking my own life, I would have missed out on all the experiences life has offered me, both good and bad.

I have my life sorted out. I am studying for my career now, as opposed to taking a slew of subjects in high school and not really knowing what to do with them. College has shown me a whole new dimension of academics, and I can proudly say that I enjoy attending classes now, for I know that this is where I'm supposed to be, this is knowledge I need and want to have.

I strongly hope all my readers appreciate their families. I have slowly begun to realise the true importance and beauty of having your family's support and love. I was and am terribly afraid of the world rejecting my sexuality. However, having come out of the closet to my family, having experienced a wondrous acceptance, I know that I will always have their unconditional support; while this does not take away my fear, it definitely eases it.

Appreciate what you got, and if you don't have anything to appreciate, then appreciate when you will get.

Home

I'm homesick.

There, I said it.

I want my L shaped apartment. I want my fat dogs. I want my metalhead brother and I want my ocean view windowsill.

Let's go home already.

Burning little fingers
The tapping of letters
Though thousands of miles set us apart
Still burned like a flame
Not extinguished with distance
Or time

A week is nothing
Days can't erase memory
Of lonely nights
And a burning screen
Of unresolved passion
And tears flowing freely

Unaittable yet so bittersweet
She's far away but so close
Disappearing into loneliness
A missing piece of this puzzle
Is only her.

Another Claymation

The Pains of Having Too Much Work

Something that everyone related to is work. More specifically, too much work. This may sound rather exaggerated, but I am drowning in work. Most of it may be brought on, for I have procrastinated enough to dig my own grave. Either way, I genuinely feel like I have no time for myself - nor my blog. I'm positive I may have lost a few - dozen - readers in the past year, but I can't bring myself to blame them. When is the last time I posted a proper, well-composed post? Feels like a hundred years ago, and may as well be the case.

Fortunately, my IB readers must understand my pain. For the others, rest assured - I will be making an honest attempt to finish all my work so that I will have time to dedicate to this blog,

Peace,
Kim

How NOT To Have A Fun Summer

1. Party so hard, you get grounded.
2. Party so hard, you get exhausted.
3. Procrastinate so bad, all your summer work begins to stress you out. (And then end up having your trip to France cancelled.)
4. Not work out during the year, so you end up not having a summer-ready body.

NYU Tisch Summer High School - Filmmakers Workshop: Narrative program.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I got into the summer school program for high school students at NYU Tisch. As you know (or don't, whatever, you're gonna know now), NYU is my dream school (sigh) and so I am super excited about this. It's a five week course that basically schools us on filmmaking techniques as well as, as I am most looking forward to, FCP technicalities.  I'm withholding the dates for security reasons (That makes me feel so cool.) but feel free to message me to find out.

Also, I'm really excited about spending five weeks in a legit NYU dorm. My obsession with NYU seems unhealthy to me, but I am assuming that there are millions of students out there who idolise various universities themselves, and I'm taking comfort in that assumption.

I dream about NYU. Genuinely dream about it, for hours and hours, when I'm asleep. When I'm awake? I stalk the website. I watch NYU-student produced short films on youtube. I do a ton of research, and then when I can't find any more information, i reread all my research, with happy, *I'm in love with this school* sighs. Hearts floating up above my head and everything. It's rather corny, if you ask me.

I can't wait to apply to NYU for real.

Until then, I have my summer school to look forward to!

P.s. Anyone else going to be in New York in summer?

P.p.s. What is everyone doing for summer? Summer school, internships? I'd love to know!

xoxo,

kim

Claymation Exercise: Facial Expressions

This is just an exercise, so don't mind the short length and lack of plot.

Even if you do mind... This took me around three hours to make, so shut it, thank you very much.

The KimHatesThis Tumblr

I must remind you all: I created my tumblr because I know there some people out there that wish to speak to me/ask me questions/ask me advice. A lot of them have tracked me down on Facebook and messaged me there; I usually don't mind this, but if they're related to my blog whatsoever, I'd really rather prefer it if you use the 'Ask a question' feature on my tumblr instead.

That is actually the one reason I created a Kim Hates This tumblr: to facilitate more interaction between me and my followers.

Please do use this feature!

You can ask me anything at all. The subject I get messaged on the most by my followers is the whole coming-out-of-the-closet process and how to do it. The second most asked subject is how to express themselves without being ostracized/how not to care if they are.The ones who took the initiative to ask me those questions without a prompt such as this post were quite brave indeed; but I encourage such questions! Don't be afraid of offending me - as long as you aren't downright insulting me, I don't get offended easily.

Here is the aforementioned tumblr:

Nail Extensions + Ombre Nails

Hello, my lovelies.

I recently got nail extensions done. It took over an hour to get done, an hour of absolute boredom, and while they sure looked pretty and whatnot, I have deemed nail extensions to be not worth it. If you have had faux nails/extensions put in before, you know exactly what I'm talking about: just how much of a, pardon my needful language, pain in the ass they are.  I am in no way one of those dainty, look-but-don't-touch girls. I am clumsy, hands-on, and unnecessarily rogue. I simply couldn't function with these damned nails on! Mind you: I've had long nails before, unimaginably long. But they were mine, and somehow that makes a world of a difference. In any case, as as expected, the nails slowly began to grow loose, like a tooth back in my pre-pubescent days, and being the fidgety person I am, I couldn't help but fidget with them until they eventually all fell/broke/got pulled off.

Oh well. Although brief, it was an enjoyable experience that I now know to stay a million miles away from.

The plus point is that before the fell/broke/got pulled off, I had the opportunity to beautify them the way I do best: nail art! Although quite simple, an ombre of colours on a nail looks surprisingly elaborate and pulls any look together. For this particular one, I used shades of pink, purple and blue.

kim

P.S. My mother was frightened of my nails after I'd demanded them to be filed pointed: she'd said it'd reminded her of talons. In addition, the unusually pigmented ombre coupled with these 'talons' reminded her of an exotic dragon waiting to devour her.
